人々が集う書架の光

自然豊かな「武蔵野の森」の中に佇むこの建築は、大きな片流れ屋根、デッキ、壁面書架によって構成されたライブラリーである。このライブラリーは、壁面書架に仕込んだ照明で書籍を照らし、その明かりによって空間の明るさ感を作り出している。天井の照明は、存在感のない器具を選定し、台数を極力減らすことで、天井面の視覚的ノイズを排した。また、読書をする場所には、最低限のスタンドライトやダウンライトで必要な明るさを確保した。様々な質の違う光によって構成されたこの空間は、来訪者にとって居心地の良い光の下、本を読むことができるライブラリーとなる。

Located amidst the abundant nature of Musashino-no-mori Park, this building is a library comprising a large, steeply sloped shed roof, a deck and full-length wall bookshelves. In this library, the books are illuminated by lights installed in the bookshelves, and that lighting creates brightness for the space. For the ceiling lighting, the selection of unobtrusive lighting fixtures—and a drastic reduction in their number—has eliminated visual noise on the ceiling surface. Furthermore, floor lights and downlights have been used to ensure the minimum light necessary for reading spaces.
